Current Responsibilities
Melissa Valley serves as Area Vice President for Gateway Management Company, based in Birmingham, Alabama. She is responsible for all facets of management and operations of over 21 communities, which includes several new constructions lease up and acquisitions. She leads a team of 6 managers, 1 senior manager, and 2 Regional managers. Her area includes all properties located in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the Augusta, Georgia market.
Relevant Experience
With more than 27 years of experience in the property management and real estate industry, Melissa has worked for several industry recognized companies where she has gained knowledge in multiple faucets of the industry. Her experience includes North Carolina Real Estate Broker & Licensed Instructor, Tax Credit, Conventional, HUD, RAD, Public Housings, Bond, HOME, Single Family Home Rentals & Sells, Residential & Commercial sells, and Asset Management for a Tax Credit Developer. Melissa brings Gateway Management professional skills and a well-diversified background that will assure success to the owner portfolio, and third-party fee management.
Education/Affiliations
Melissa holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Business with a minor in Human Resource. Melissa received her North Carolina real estate license in 2003 and is currently the Broker in Charge for Gateway’s North Carolina portfolio. She is also a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Instructor. Melissa attends national and local industry education conferences to keep up with emerging trend and industry best practices.
