Current Responsibilities.
Mitzi Hoag serves as the Vice President of Compliance for Gateway Management Company, based in Birmingham, Alabama, where she is responsible for ensuring that Gateway Management Company adheres with the standards, rules, regulations, policies, laws, codes of conduct, and other self-imposed guidelines that apply to its stewardship. She is responsible for establishing, implementing, and executing the day-to-day property/asset-level compliance. And will ensure that Gateway Management Company’s policy is administered by our property management staff, has sufficiently managed the risks around non-compliance with federal, state, county, city, HUD, housing agency, fair housing, REAC, MOR, AFHMP’s, TSP’s, regulatory agreements, service level standards, and other areas are mitigated and controlled.
Relevant Experience
Mitzi Hoag was worked in the Multifamily Housing industry since 1999. As a former LIHTC Community Director, Mitzi’s strengths include the performance of LIHTC multi-family housing communities including lease up and property stabilization. Preparation and monitoring of community budget and goals including economic occupancy and net operating income. Prior to joining Gateway Management Company, Mitzi served as Vice President of Compliance and Customer Experience for one of the largest compliance firms. There she was responsible for compliance polices and procedures used by management companies, developers, syndicators, investors and lenders of the multi-family housing and affordable housing industries that use Low Income Housing Tax Credit as regulated by IRC Section 42, bonds, HUD subsides, State grants and other governmental assistance and all aspects of the affordable housing industry. With her more than 24 years of affordable housing management, she is known for being a problem solver, effective communicator, relationship builder and thought leader.
Education/Affiliations
Passionate about serving those in need of quality and affordable housing, Mitzi is an expert in compliance. Mitzi is a nationally recognized Housing Credit Certified Professional and Certified Occupancy Specialist. She regularly attends continuing education seminars and conferences to stay on top of the current regulations and trends in the industry.
